On September 11, 2001, Sojourner Hughes was nine years old, watching from her Brooklyn classroom window as the towers fell. Three years later, at her father's request, she sat down and wrote out everything she remembered. That account became a self-published, illustrated book — drawn by Sojourner and her father Floyd Hughes — completed over the years that followed.

Now, on the 25th anniversary of that day, their story has been adapted into an animated short film. Sojourner narrates it herself, in her own words, exactly as a nine-year-old girl once saw it.
